Sadly let down this visit. Staff constantly hovered to point of making us uncomfortable. Put my fork down to have sip of my drink and waitress asked if I had finished. On arrival and on payment I mentioned I had discount code off main course. Staff member insisted she had entered code and I had discount. No receipts given but on checking my Bank, no discount given. We won't be returning. Shame nice pub and setting.

Dont waste your money. I booked this location for an afternoon christmas lunch with work colleagues, as I've visited the location before and have never had an issue. I'm going to keep this factual. We arrived, my colleagues had cups of tea, and I my pre-ordered drink. The glass which arrived with it was barely see through at the top. ( see picture) The food arrived, the 2 seabass, along with a lasagna, which, to be fair looked fine. A minute or so later, 2 turkey dinners arrived. I cannot express how disappointed I was, but not just myself, but my colleague who ordered the same meal also. The turkey was fine, I gave away my Yorkshire pudding as I'm not a fan. The carrots were black on the underside, the tops were dark brown. There were half carrots in length, so 2 of them made up a substantial portion of the meal. The parsnip was fine. The roast potatoes were incredibly crisp and very, very dark brown in colour. The Brussels sprouts, as I told the waitress who collected the dishes, I wouldn't serve to a dog (see pictures). I also had 8 peas and 2 beans on my plate. My colleague had no greens in her turkey meal. When I queried this, I was told that they were not supposed to be on my plate, and the may have transferred there from one of the other plates. Really......... When I voiced my disapproval of the meal, I did state that, had we have had a courtesy visit, this might have been cleared up. However, when I stated that no one came back to the table, I was told that it had been ticked off, indicating that it had been completed. Now, please don't get me wrong, the waitresses were lovely, and both myself and my colleague didn't pay for the turkey meals, but we were very upset at the state of them. I didn't take pictures of hers, only mine. The puddings arrived, again, i was disappointed with my less than half full bowl, compared to 2 of my colleagues what had the same desserts and were full to the brim. (did they run out of ingredients? who knows....... Anyway, that was that. Unfortunately for me, I found myself back at the same location, a few days later, having tried every single restaurant/pub (6 in all) on my travels with my mum before desperation hit and I had to give up and head there. My mum is diabetic, and was literally feeling faint going into a diabetic low. I really didn't want to eat there because if the poor excuse of a Christmas meal. Anyway, we were shown to the table, and within 1 minute. A stout lady called me from the table, asked if I had visited the other day, which I confirmed. She then said, if the food was so diabolical, and you wouldn't feed it to a dog, why would you come back. I then told her that I had tried every pub/ restaurant in the area, and I was only there out of desperation. She turned to me and said, I don't want to serve you. Fair enough, I said, not really wanting to eat there, I collected my mum, bought a bar of chocolate from a garage, then drove to a lovely pub where a fantastic meal was had. One, clearly must be in the wrong, thinking that the right to complain about an atrocious meal that one paid for, that came out burnt, is going against the grain. What state of affairs is it if a chef can plate up something that looks like that, and send it out to be served. Reputation is everything. The ironic thing is, we were told that we were the only table they had, that was for a Christmas meal. The eatery was not full in the slightest. One can only imagine, if they very were busy, what the meals would look like. Anyway, never going back to the location, will never recommend the location. And to the lady I spoke to, you have no gumption....... you clearly wanted to keep the conversation on the hush in front of other customers, that your christmas meals were of such an abysmal quality.

Had a very good chicken burger (though fries and slaw were average tbf). Had a decent bitter too (below 4% abv) then standard lime and soda. Plenty of parking, but spot the turn early and get your indicator on as some drivers behind you might speed up off of Swarky Bridge. Someone in the group picked up the tab so not sure of the value for money (obv great for me as free). Food came reasonably quickly too (midweek dining). Service not intrusive but good and polite. One of the party had stayed in the pub when down and said rooms were good. All in all a pleasant evening (from my youth I know there are good walks locally too). Pub was dog friendly. Thank you.

3 night stay. No housekeeping- beds not made, cups and coffee/milk not replaced etc Despite plenty of empty tables on Saturday early evening 5pm a table for 1 was not available

A fantastic stay! Arrived around 9pm after a long day at Alton towers to a very warm and friendly welcome from Georgia & Jamie. Georgia showed us to our rooms and was very thorough. Breakfast we were looked after by Sammi who was so understanding & helpful with our breakfast needs (me a veggie, my teenager a fussy eater and o/h on the carnivore diet!) when it came to pay the bill, we questioned the price due to a quoted price on our booking which was confirmed on the phone before our trip! Tracey the manager could not have been more helpful and we left it with her to look into for the day. The following morning we came for breakfast, to sammi already making our drinks as we had the morning before. (What a service!) I spoke with Tracey further about the bill questioned and she had resolved things for us with head office. Truly a fantastic stay and a very well cleaned and presented room as I understand thanks to Charlotte. Would highly recommend

Was stopping for 2 nights on business trip. Great room, nice and comfortable and very reasonably priced. Staff were brilliant, food great and service immaculate, could not fault it!!!

Drinks were good, wife enjoyed a pimms cocktail. Food was expensive for what it was (although nice overall) and bar service was *slow* always has been ever since we've been coming ~6 years. Garden was a state, broken tables, rubbish, old food plates and empty glasses everywhere. Grass and weeds have grown so high you can't see the river. Condiments left out in the sun for at least 3 hours 🤢 Bar staff friendly and random live saxophone music in the garden.

The Staff are a credit to the company, they are nice and friendly and very attractive. The room's are comfortable and clean. The beds are very comfy Hipnos mattress. Had a very nice stay

Stayed here whilst going to the Test Match at Nottingham and the rooms were comfortable, plenty of parking and a fantastic breakfast. The pubs evening meals were what you expect for a pub chain but the staff were amazing, clearly short staffed on a very hot Thursday night the three ladies working the bar and restaurant worked like troopers. Met the manager Tracey and let her know that I was very impressed with their efforts. Thank you!

My friends & I visited here, due to it accommodating children. Unfortunately when we asked for two highchairs, they didn’t bring one over, but after a few minutes waiting, I went in search for a staff member, to be informed that was none left which was disappointing. The food was what you expect for a pub. The kids indoor play could do with an upgrade.
